Global Resources Network

Dear Friends,

Looking back on 2004, and despite the Tsunami disaster, the Iraq war and other major social, political, economic and environmental challenges, we can at least celebrate the major progress We, The World has made building the international networks needed to address the major problems humanity faces.

In particular, we were able to launch 11 Days of Global Unity in over 100 cities/80 countries. 11 Days represents a powerful new platform for international grassroots cooperation to create social and environmental well-being around the world! And we are already building on this success with 10% for Peace and the Global Resources Network starting January 1, 2005! (See below for descriptions.)

We would like to express our deep appreciation to our many supporters, donors, and our extraordinary international 11 Days participants and team (see bottom):

By expanding our global networks of collaboration, we can greatly increase public involvement in the critical work of creating a peaceful and sustainable world. Your tax deductible online contribution (or check to the address at the top) will help us continue and amplify our efforts. Thank you!

2004 - The Launch of 11 Days of Global Unity

With 11 Days our non-profit organization We, The World has taken a giant step towards realizing a goal we have often heard expressed - especially after the US elections: what is needed is a "critical mass" of informed and involved people whose values include peace, sustainability, environmental well-being, nonviolent solutions to conflict, social justice, the means are the ends, global citizenship, socially conscious business practices, and holistic health of mind, body and spirit.

11 Days of Global Unity 2004 was a global promotion of peace and sustainability with concerts, festivals, webcasts, and other events taking place in over 100 cities (80 countries) worldwide ending on Sept. 21, 2004, the International Day of Peace. Participants and supporters included Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Jane Goodall, Deepak Chopra, Irene Khan, Marianne Williamson, and many others (see bottom). These events were designed to engage the public, maximize awareness about humanity's major challenges and give people ways to take action on the spot! Please see our Report on 11 Days of Global Unity at www.WeTheWorld.org/11daysreport).

Moving Forward in 2005

10% For Peace - A Global New Thought
We are advancing the idea of people around the world making a commitment starting January 1, 2005 to devote at least 10% of their money/resources or their time to working for a better world through groups and activities of their choice.

We invite you to collaborate with us! You may become a Co-Sponsor of this by doing the following:

1) send us your website address/link which we will put in the Co-Sponsor section along with other co-sponsoring peace/sustainability efforts such as World Peace 2000, Global Family Day, One Day in Peace, the UN Cyber School Bus, The Nuclear Age Peace Foundation, We, The World and others
2) include a link to this initiative (http://www.WeTheWorld.org/globalthought) on your website along with other basic info you can copy from the 10% For Peace webpage
3) promote this idea to your affiliated organizations/members, friends, co-workers, the media and others. There is text at WeTheWorld.org/globalthought which you can copy/adapt to come from your own organization.
For more info please see www.WeTheWorld.org/globalthought. You may contact us at globalthought@WeTheWorld.org with any comments, questions and to be listed as a Co-Sponsor!

Global Resources Network
This breakthrough model of collaboration and mutual support will allow 1,000s of socially conscious organizations, businesses and individuals to effectively work together. At a time when there is so much suffering in the world, and the obstacles to peace and sustainability are so great, the Global Resources Network (GRN) will provide the resources and interconnectivity to facilitate local, regional and international civil society collaboration and organizing. We envision this as a tool to:

1) significantly improve the effectiveness and visibility of civil society organizations and socially conscious businesses worldwide,

2) organize large-scale Public International Events that engage, inform and involve a global audience. 11 Days of Global Unity in Sept. 2004 was the first of these with events taking place in over 100 cities around the world.

Getting Involved (Volunteer, Contribute)
Your help is appreciated in finding donors and supporters who understand the importance and effectiveness of our programs. We feel it is crucial to inspire, inform and involve the public beyond the progressive "choir" and create an international movement that generates political will and the enlightened consumer power needed to create a world that truly works for all!

To support our efforts, please click here (contribution) and make an immediate, secure, tax deductible credit card payment online. Or send a check or money order payable to We, The World in U.S. currency to:
