11 Days of Global Unity 2004
Launching a new platform for international participation
in creating a world that works for all!

Special Message from Archbishop Desmond Tutu for 11
Days
"The objective of the organization We, The World is to facilitate cooperation on a global scale amongst groups and individuals dedicated to implementing solutions to the many challenges we face on the planet at this time. We, The World wishes to inspire, inform and involve more and more people in these solutions to bring about large scale change.
The world will not resolve conflict and war or the destruction of it's environment until we stop grabbing huge benefits for the few at the expense of sustainable benefits for all.
We are created for interdependence. You have gifts that I don't have and I have gifts that you don't have. This is true on a personal level and at a global level. We are created for sharing, for caring, for laughter, for love - for celebrating our wonderful diversity as members of one family, the human family, God's family. God bless you."
Archbishop Desmond Tutu
11 Days has touched people's hearts and minds!
"Congratulations on the great work you are doing - and the tremendous
growth in your group... our message is gaining momentum outside of the
UN circles - and you have been such a big part of doing that."
Nancy Roof (Editor, Kosmos Journal and Board Member, Lifebridge
Foundation)
"It is hoped that the 11-day activities will arouse people's attention
to the dangers facing all mankind and encourage collective actions to create
a prosperous world with harmony...Congratulations for the success to celebrate
the UN International Day of Peace...We saw the program [Sept 21st]
via webcasting [from Taiwan]...It was great!"
Jilly Tsai/Dr. Hong's office, Federation of World Peace and Love
"Congratulations Rick! We have heard only good things about this event
[Sept 21st]"
Dot. Maver, National Campaign Manager, Dennis Kucinich
"It is reassuring to know that your powerful voice is being heard especially
in the run up to the [U.S.] election. Every good wish."
Anne Booth-Clibborn
"Congratulations! When love guides efforts based on selfless service to all without preference of nation, religion, race, gender, or even beliefs, then love in its purest form finds a means of expression. There is no power for transformation greater than the power of love. Within it is contained the clarity of justice, the healing energy of compassion, and the inspiration to work for peace. This work for peace, both inner and outer peace, is needed now more than ever. The prospect of more wars with greater capacity for perverse uses of the gifts of technology stands before us in sharp contrast to what we know is possible -- a world where technology is used in service of health, communications, and art. The difference in these two visions is whether we pursue the love of power or the power of love. Your work is clearly a force for the highest good. Deeply grateful,"
Jonathan Granoff (President, Global Security Institute and 11 Days Honorary Co-Chair)

Closing 11 Days Event: "Our
Voices, Our World"
Celebrating
the UN International Day of Peace September 21, 2004
At this event powerful and moving presentations suggested how important
getting involved is at this time. An extraordinary array of speakers, performers
and exhibitors combined to produce an evening of inspiration, information
and action! Marianne Williamson brought down the house with her
riveting talk about the Dept. of Peace and integrating spirit and activism.
Dr.
Jane Goodall, DBE touched people's hearts and her whole team
was there from DC and other places (including a rescue dog) unfurling 4
Giant Peace Doves that moved through the audience. Gemma and her
spectacular "Million Voice Choir" sang
We Rise as the climax
of a "wave" of choir voices singing through each time zone across 80 countries!
Adotei
Akwei with Amnesty International, other initiatives and the
many exhibitors provided ways the public could get immediately involved.
Exceptional performances were interspersed between speakers to create an
evening that was inspiring on many levels. See Our
Voices, Our World (www.WeTheWorld.org/sept21event) for
all
the wonderful participants. The event was webcast live.
Interdependence Day Sept. 12, 2004 - a major 11
Days event
In proclaiming Interdependence Day, we are acknowledging that we are all
connected, and that when one thread in the web of life is sundered, all
are diminished. Where equity and mutual respect prevail, all benefit. Interdependence
Day is a day of celebration, information and action!
In September 2002 We, The World launched Interdependence
Day at the Johannesburg World Summit on Sustainable Development.
In 2004 Interdependence Day activities took place in New York City, Phoenix,
Rome and other areas of the world. This
annual festival celebrates the interconnectedness of all life and the recognition
of that interconnectedness.
The 2004 NY Interdependence
Day Festival featured
speakers, performers and workshop presentations including keynote
speaker Robert Knight
(WBAI/Pacifica Radio News Analyst
and Host of Earth Watch), Amnesty International, Brooklyn Womens
Chorus, Jane Goodall Institute's Roots & Shoots Youth Program, Kymbali,
the Foundation for Ethics and Meaning, Federation of World Peace and Love,
Kayhan Irani/Theater of the Oppressed, Global Unity Through Interfaith
Dialogue, NY Council for Nonviolent Communication, Sunshine Eagle, Valerie
Ghent, Earth Charter Initiative, Jubilee & Chocolate Thai, Raquy &
the Cavemen - Middle Eastern Drumming Group, SOS Food, Consumers Union,
Danny Schechter Film Screening,
Town Hall Wall, and others.
What's Next for 11 Days?

The World's 2 major interrelated programs, the Public
International Events (PIEs) and the Global
Resources Network (GRN). 11 Days next steps include:

Jane Goodall, Marianne Williamson, A Million Voices - One Peace, Amnesty
International and others.
-
Web streaming and other media distribution of content beyond 11 Days from
organization partners/members of the GRN
and visionary speakers (like Neale Donald Walsch) working for a better
world,
-
Collaborations and networking between cause-based organizations, socially
conscious companies and individuals (via the GRN),
-
Periodic high visibility international events (PIEs)
to focus public involvement and action.
