Do You Want A Livable Future?
It's Up To YOU
in 2007
|
Inspired to help create a Livable Future?
Please take a moment to
Message from Rick Ulfik, Executive Director of We, The World
Our Governing Board, Volunteers, Supporters and I would like to extend our
best wishes to you for a peaceful and fulfilling 2007. At this turbulent
time in our world, we invite you to join and support
our Global Collaboration for a Livable Future!
Below is We, The World's 2006 Report, but first, I'd like to express some
appreciation. If you produced, promoted, sponsored, and/or participated in
any of the hundreds of events and other activities that were part of
11 Days of Global Unity Sept. 11-21, 2006 (culminating on the International Day of Peace), or other We, The World
activities in 2006, and if you were a volunteer or contributor, we want
to thank you so much! You helped to make the 2006 participation
bigger than ever!
Now I invite you to join and support
our mass education and mobilization campaign to create cultures of
peace and environmental sustainability worldwide.
LOCAL ACTION, GLOBAL PARTICIPATION
Our strategy for moving humanity
off the path of catastrophe
and towards creating a peaceful, sustainable world
|
Your financial
support now will help us to better promote and carry out the following
programs in 2007:
- 11 Days of Global Unity Sept. 11-21 (culminating on
the International Day of Peace)
- our annual worldwide promotion of peace and sustainability. In September
2006 we had the greatest global participation in our programs since we started
We, The World! Over 700 events in more than 60 countries were associated
with 11 Days of Global Unity 2006!
Your support will help us expand on this success and produce
3 additional multi-country events during the year to promote awareness and
action campaigns within areas of concern that affect us all, such as eco-system
degradation, poverty, and violence.
- Our
Voices, Our World - a multi-city event series with a focus on getting
youth involved in social change activities combining music, dynamic speakers,
raising awareness and taking action. Earlier this year through this program
we raised funds that saved more than 90 people's lives for a month after
the Pakistan Earthquake!
Your support will make it possible for us to do monthly Our Voices, Our World
concerts starting in February to raise awareness and aid civilians fleeing
conflict areas.
- 10 Million Clicks
For Peace - a massive internet campaign to raise millions
of dollars for refugees while disseminating writings and awareness about
achieving personal peace. Arun Gandhi, for example, is offering the teachings
of his grandfather Mahatma Gandhi about compassion and nonviolence. The creators
of 10 Million Clicks have selected We, The World as a long-term partner with
a comprehensive approach to global transformation.
Your support now will help us to prepare the website and complete
the myriad details involved in successfully launching this campaign in January.
- Fundraising For a Better World offers your
affiliated non-profit organization(s) more than 10 totally free fundraising
programs plus many fun and informative tips and ideas to help increase their
revenue.
- Be A Better World Hero! The Better World Project
is partnering with We, The World to establish Better World Clubs and other
programs for students and others. Better World's outreach is global with
over 3200 active organizations. "Alone our individual resources are limited,
but together we have all we need to change the system. We can use our talents
and our spending dollars in ways that will transform the world, rather than
perpetuate the system that is destroying it." - Better World Director, Robert
Silverstein.
Please go to www.WeTheWorld.org or contact us
to find out more about these and the other programs we are carrying out right
now!
What Would
YOU Give For a Livable Future?
We may be the last generation that can keep the Mass Extinction of
Species (70-100 per day) and the Global Climate Crisis from becoming
irreversible. Other indicators of the critical urgency for
coordinated international grassroots organizing include: the expanding poverty
epidemic, human population growth, eco-system degradation, escalating militarism
and violence, and the destruction of indigenous peoples worldwide (some of
whom are the last remaining examples of cultures that have lived in sustainable
harmony with nature for many millennia).
Even if somehow the huge obstacles disappear to allow the Kyoto Accord, the
U.N. Millennium Development Goals, the Clinton Global Initiative and other
major efforts to accomplish their objectives, the underlying reasons
for this rush towards global collapse will still be there.
What's needed is a major cultural shift, especially in the wealthiest countries.
Without the mainstream public's understanding of their role in enabling major
institutions' unsustainable practices, and without the public's conscious
lifestyle shift and support for sustainable solutions, we're still headed
for the "Shopocalypse" as Reverend Billy would say.
Uniquely positioned in the international social change movement, We, The
World has already begun a mass education and mobilization campaign to
create the needed tipping point
of support for humanity taking a new direction - away from what Advisory
Board member Riane Eisler calls Dominator Culture (and it's impending
collapse) and toward Partnership Culture.
Our strategic alliances include Nobel Peace Laureate Archbishop Desmond
Tutu, Amnesty International, Dr. Jane Goodall and Roots & Shoots, Deepak
Chopra and his Alliance for A New Humanity, the Global Movement
for Departments and Ministries of Peace, the Global Youth Action Network,
World Peace Emerging, Earthdance, CCC-UN and many others. We, The
World also has affiliations with these major Networks: Ubuntu, Civicus,
Idealist, PlaNetwork, Greenpeace, MoveOn, MediaChannel, Democracy
Now!, United For Peace and Justice, the Network of Spiritual Progressives,
Global Exchange and many others.
Together with our ever-expanding global Community of
Organizations We, The World is working with an incredible team of
visionary thinkers, activists, artists, celebrities, diplomats, socially
responsible business leaders, and forward thinking government officials.
Our network includes thousands of aware and committed individuals and groups.
There's only one catch. It can only happen if YOU
get involved.
World Savers Circle
Our World Savers Circle includes people who feel that "to be a stakeholder
in We, The World is to be a stakeholder in the future of humanity." World
Savers Circle members contribute $1000 or more during the year. Every $1000
allows us to provide consciousness-raising information and ways to get involved
in the solutions to more than 20,000 people a month (soon to be an exponentially
greater number). Would you like to be part of this Circle?
Whatever you are able to contribute, those who benefit
from our programs as well as our Volunteers, Supporters and I
thank you so much for your support!
