WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT?
Starting January 1, 2005 (Global Family Day) "Think Globally, Act Locally" is no longer just
a slogan.
We have signed on to a compelling idea that has launched
January 1, 2005. And we would like to invite you, your affiliated organization(s)
and members to join many others around the world in promoting to the public
the following simple yet profound action:
Starting January 1, 2005 commit at least 10%
of your money/resources or your time to working for a better world through
groups and activities of your choice. This means starting your own special
bank account with your own money and/or setting up a regular schedule for
service and volunteer work.
The goal is to disseminate this idea globally
starting January 1st. If you would like to join us in promoting it to the
general public, click Getting
Involved. We will add you to our growing list of Co-Sponsors.
(See below).

The only thing that really matters in life is what we are
all doing with our 10%!
People will realize they can
make a difference in this world.
Call this 10% account the "Love
thy Neighbor" account, or the "Do Good Account", or "The Love Account".
This account is separate from
what people are currently spending their money on. It is not meant for Birthdays,
Christmas, Chanukah, or Anniversary presents. Those are part of everyday
life and therefore part of the 90%. The 10% is to give of yourself unlike
all the ways you may be currently giving.
The value of this account is
not just the money, but also the time you spend thinking about how you can
use this money to make this world a better place.
People will talk about the ways
they are using their money to help. Conversations at parties will be along
the lines of - What are you doing with your 10%?
Once people start giving, they
will get it back! It will be like a drug that increases people's seratonin
levels.
Organizations (like We, The World) will offer resources
that can help people find ways to put the money to use.
United we will start realizing
that we can make a difference.
More people will become involved
in a volunteer capacity with this new mindset.
Volunteer-based social service
organizations will teach people how to help themselves.
Programs will be started on the
importance of unconditional love and treating other people as you wish them
to treat yourself. Mentoring programs will be started in all phases of social
services.These programs will be free!
Businesses will also set aside
10% of their money or time to help bring about world peace.

This initiative builds on We, The World's recent 11 Days of Global Unity
and the development of the Global
Resources Network designed to accelerate the formation of a powerful
international movement of concerned and informed people that generates political
will and the enlightened consumer power needed to create a world that truly
works for all! The Global Resources Network will be a major source
of socially conscious organizations, businesses, events and actions where
people can effectively put their 10% to good use!
We are looking forward to hearing from you and working with you on this!
Take care,
Rick Ulfik
