Performer Notes:
Gladshot - www.gladshot.com
"...a more rocking, co-ed, Toad the Wet Sprocket" - TimeOut NY
Gladshot is a New York City band featuring songs by Debbie Andrews
and Mike Blaxill. Debbie is a vocalist and keyboardist who
at 16 made her Broadway debut as Crissy in the original Broadway production
of the hit musical HAIR. She performed with 20 other original HAIR
members for Our Voices, Our World Pakistan Earthquake Benefit Jan 31st.
Debbie gives Gladshot a layered, jazz component.
Mike Blaxill first appeared on the NYC scene at the Bitter
End Songwriter's Circle and the Songwriter's Hall of Fame Showcase,
and performed many times in Nashville at the famed Bluebird Cafe.
He recently received BMI's Abe Oleman Award as "the years most promising
artist". Mike, who sings and plays guitar in Gladshot, brings a rootsy
vibe to the project.
Gladshot released their 2nd CD "Stand" in March 2004,
the follow-up to their successful 2002 debut "Relic" which got great
reviews and lots of radio airplay across the country. "Stand" played on
over a hundred radio stations nationwide, was Top 30 CMJ on two
Chicago stations and went to #5 CMJ in Los Angeles.
Gladshot's songs have been featured on the WB Network and NPR
Radio - and they've opened for such artists as Michelle Shocked,
Head Automatica and Corey Harris.
Lo Faber - www.lofaber.com
"your favorite semi-retired hippie jam rock guy"
Lo Faber was the front man for the renowned 90s jam band God Street
Wine (www.godstreetwine.com)
who in their prime toured the country in theaters and concert halls and
headlined such NYC venues as Wetlands and Irving Plaza. Lo's
songs are an eclectic mix of jazz, country, rock, pop and world music.
PLUS speakers, materials and ways to get involved in global/environmental
issues that affect us all.
Our
Voices, Our World is an ongoing event series (soon to be multi-city) that combines
music, other arts presentations, video, dynamic speakers, and ways to take
action and get involved with ongoing campaigns of the co-sponsoring peace
and ustainability organizations.
Whether you are in NYC or not, please consider getting involved and
supporting
this project. which will soon include "conscious concert" events in cities
around the U.S. and many other countries leading to 11 Days of Global Unity 2006 culminating on the International Day of Peace
September 21st.
TO EMPOWER LOCAL & GLOBAL MOVEMENTS,
WE
NEED YOUR SUPPORT!
We are seeking Sponsors, Donors and other Resource Partners
to fully implement Our
Voices, Our World (OVOW). OVOW is an ongoing multi-city event series
that combines live music, other arts and consciousness-raising, while giving
attendees (especially young people) the opportunity to make a difference
and take action with initiatives creating a peaceful sustainable planet.
Our
Voices, Our World provides a powerful way to promote and generate
support for local-to-global civic actions and social change.
At our last OVOW event January 31st, we not only raised awareness
about the India/Pakistan conflict, the funds we raised helped Mercy
Corps to secure over $37,500 in donated food and other critical
supplies for the displaced survivors of the recent Pakistan Earthquake.
We have the organizers, networks, promoters, media contacts and others
ready to replicate and expand this success in many cities - vastly increasing
public (especially youth) involvement while bringing support to literally
hundreds
of
causes and initiatives working for a better world.
But
to do this we need your immediate support! Click here to make an
immediate secure credit card payment, or you may send a check to the address
at the top. And if you or someone you know could be a major Sponsor or
Benefactor, please contact me at the phone or email listed.at the top.
Thank You!
